300th Birthday of Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Today, 28th June 2012, marks the tercentenary of the birth of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, one of the most important figures of the European Enlightenment and democratic revolution.

For this occasion, Les Èditions Slatkine in Geneva has released today a new edition of Rousseau’s collected works and letters (24 volume set), a collaborative work under the direction of Raymond Trousson and Frédéric S. Eigeldinger.

Oxford University Press is offering free access to a collection of articles in its journals relevant to Rousseau’s philosophical works.

Numerous articles on Rousseau have been published in recent days, including this one by David Bell in The New Republic and Die Seele der Freiheit by Mathias Geffrath in die Zeit, and Arte has a good documentary.
